13x16 The Truth about Mud
Emmalee Powell “The Truth about Mud.” 13”x16” 2019 Mud, clay, wood, pigment “The Truth about Mud” Mud is the grossest. But it left tracks of white here? Can dirt be cleansing? Context: My sister once called my backyard a construction zone. I’m not sure why? We only have pavers, bricks, hoses, waterfall pumps, scooters, cars, soccer balls, basketballs, tricycle and bikes, a shed with plywood walls, a wood pile, shovels, rakes, bumpy grass, lots of rocks and a little bit of mud... mud... Mud is gross. I despise it on my shoes, our pathway, cement patio, and basketball court. It’s a mess. What is the worst mud at your house? The mud I used for these paintings was from our strawberry “patch” from which we harvest at least 4 strawberries per year, partially decomposed wood chips from my neighbors flower bed, and the disgusting sludge from cleaning out our rain gutters. #whereisjesusinthismess #mudpainting #paintingwithoutpaint #behonestaboutmud #truthaboutmud #epowellart
