ALL ABOUT EMMALEE
My current series of art is based on embracing limitations and finding healing through Jesus. I call it "Where is Jesus in This Mess?" Everyone faces limitations and messes at some point with health, family, financially, skills, and more. I seek to embrace my limitations by creating are while "in the midst" of limitations with limitations. I limit myself by only using my left hand (I'm right-handed), no paint brushes, and no photo reference. You can stay up-to-date with my work by following me on instagram or facebook. My paintings vary from realistic portraits to mixed media abstract paintings that are highly textured with gears and oil painted to evoke corresponding moods and feelings associated with addiction and faith in Christ. I am an eclectic artist who loves steampunk, Jesus, DIY projects, creating custom art for clients, art teacher, and creative parent. I have been an artist all my life. I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Illustration in 2007. Currently pursuing my Masters degree in Art Education at BYU. I like to say I have Art ADD. I'm constantly working on something art related. I enjoy every type and every genre of art. That is a large reason I became an art teacher. I taught middle school art from 2008-2017, and am adjunct faculty at UVU and BYU depending on the semester. I have taught and experimented with everything from pottery, ceramics, painting, digital painting, film making, jewelry making, drawing, mural painting, printmaking, and portraiture.
