The truth about mud?

“The Truth about Mud.”

Mud is the grossest.

But it left tracks of white here?

Can dirt be cleansing?

My sister once called my backyard a construction zone. I’m not sure why? We only have pavers, bricks, hoses, waterfall pumps, scooters, cars, soccer balls, basketballs, tricycle and bikes, a shed with plywood walls, a wood pile, shovels, rakes, bumpy grass, lots of rocks and a little bit of mud... mud...

Mud is gross. I despise it on my shoes, our pathway, cement patio, and basketball court. It’s a mess. What is the worst mud at your house? The mud I used for these paintings was from our strawberry “patch” from which we harvest at least 4 strawberries per year, partially decomposed wood chips from my neighbors flower bed, and the disgusting sludge from cleaning out our rain gutters.

Then today I led a discussion about truth. What is truth? Does truth change or is it our ability to comprehend truth? Science seeks truth through experiments. Perhaps experience is how truth is learned? My mother told me she prays each day for God to give her as much truth as she can handle. I’ve done that a few times, and, to be truthful, there are some truths I’m not comfortable with which are hard.

I challenged others to write a haiku poem (5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables) about truth or one of my mud paintings and this is what they wrote. Choose a messy mud painting or make one yourself and write a haiku about it. Here are some haikus shared with me today.
